Forbes’ Top 100 Websites for Your Career (Yup – We Made It!)

Interview, Job Search, Resume and LinkedIn

Forbes’ list of the Top 100 Websites for Your Career came out this week, and Career Attraction made the cut!

First Off, Thanks Is Due

First and foremost, thank you to Jacquelyn Smith for the no-less-than Herculean effort in putting this together. More than 700 sites were submitted, not to mention 2,000+ emails, comments and tweets to Jacquelyn — who is clearly a master of organization!

But none of this would have happened without your nominations (tweets, comments and emails). This site was built with the aim of providing you with smart, creative advice that gets results. We will continue to deliver just that and raise the bar on what our Experts provide for you.

Speaking of our Experts, I’d be remiss without giving a nod to each and every one of you. We have some tough standards, but you guys keep delivering. In fact, several of our experts were named to the list as well! (More on that in a moment.)

Last — but definitely not least — is our Managing Editor, Kelly Gurnett. What she has brought to this site is directly reflected in accolades like being included on Forbes’ list. Kelly is instrumental in our strategic planning, execution and shaping what’s to come as we grow and expand our reach.

We’re In Some Great Company

What’s especially cool about this list is that many of our amazing contributors are also included. In particular, a few of our Experts (and other admirable colleagues in the career sector) to whom I’d like to bring your attention:

A Better Interview: Marc DeBoer (Career Attraction Expert) and I actually had lunch just last week while he was in DC. He brings an insider’s view to the hiring process and what it takes to ace the interview. But that’s not all Marc’s up to. I’ve been sworn to secrecy, but suffice it to say he has some big things in store for the job search, hiring and all points in between. Watch out for this guy!

Blogging4Jobs: You’ll find some really meaty articles here on hiring and talent acquisition, with an equal balance towards job seekers and HR professionals. I subscribe and would recommend you also check out what Jessica Miller-Merrell has built for you there.

Brazen Life: Fun, edgy and content-rich, I’ve always been a big fan of Brazen Careerist (Even wrote an article for them!). It’s no wonder, since Kelly helps shepherd their content with our good friend (and Career Attraction Expert) Alexis Grant.

Chameleon Resumes: I have a bias towards experts who come from the world of headhunting. It’s part of the reason I love this site, since that’s creator Lisa Rangel’s background. She provides no-nonsense advice pulled from years of experience and success. That’s why I read it and why brought Lisa in as an Expert here on Career Attraction.

FlexJobs: Sara Sutton Fell has created the only job board that, in my opinion, has a true sense of community. It’s the only job board I recommend using — and, you guessed it, Sara and the Flex Job team are also regular contributors and Career Attraction Experts. Sara contributed to our 70+ Tips Ebook, and I’ve also written for FlexJobs.

Intern Sushi: I’ve been watching these guys since they launched. Their content and utility of connecting would-be interns with opportunities in “hard to break into” industries is a solid combination. If you’re looking at internships or helping those trying to do so, check them out.

Job-Hunt.org: Susan Joyce has compiled one of the most complete resources on the Web. We share some Experts in common and certainly share a focus of providing solid, no-spin advice that has an impact. Susan also contributed to our 70+ Tips Ebook, which is part of our FREE Job Search Toolbox. This is a site that needs to be on your list.

Lindsey Pollak: LinkedIn spokesperson, GenY career expert and author (I could go on here), Lindsey is a must-have on your follow list if you’re on the cusp of entering the world of work. Additionally, she runs a great group on LinkedIn for those in Career Services. I’m not sure when she sleeps. Check her out, if you haven’t already.

The Career Artisan: Another one of our Experts, and co-creator of the Resume and Value Proposition Letter Trainings that are part of our exclusive Membership Program, Mary Elizabeth Bradford is bar-none one of the nicest people with whom I’ve ever collaborated. But don’t let her sweet demeanor fool you — she’s all about getting it done right and is relentless when it comes to delivering results.

The Daily Muse: While their aim is providing career and lifestyle information targeted at women, I think you’ll find their advice valuable regardless of gender. Or maybe I’m just getting in touch with my feminine side :-). Either way, check them out. (Full disclosure: they listed me at one of 10 Career Experts to Follow on Twitter).
