Just listened to Ed's success story and after a long and discouraging job hunt, the effort comes down to four words, "SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE!." I know what that means and feels like, a year and three months after I got laid off as a TV journalist.
The old methods of sending applications down a big deep hole on the internet and scouring the online job boards is not working.
There's been a lot of activity but no productivity. Kevin brought this to my attention.
While I've been fortunate to land some interviews in this crippling economy, the home run seems out of reach.
So Ed's story of exploring other environments to meet potential employers by using social media is one example of why the investment is worth it.
And instead of pitching yourself on the web, if you can add value solve a problem first, you may just find your next job by helping someone in need.
Great story Ed!
